Queertawe

Newsletter, June 2025

March, April and May have been really exciting at Queertawe. We have had our weekly sessions in Art, Cabaret, Movement and Creative Writing along with social sessions, online workshops and a community consultation.

From March to May 2025 we have delivered 20 sessions with 255 attendees overall, 70 unique participants and 6 volunteers. We had a super successful bank holiday beach social picnic with 50 people in attendence!

We had a stall at Swansea Pride and the Trans+ Wellbeing day promoting the project and delivered a creative workshop at the Eisteddfod yr Urdd.

Our current Connect and Flourish Arts Council Wales funding is coming to an end in August, which means we are currently working on trying to secure future funding to continue and develop this amazing project. We are partnering with Progress Cymru to apply to continue the project for another year.

Participant Feedback

We’ve been planning for the future, reflecting on the last year and a half and collecting feedback from participants about their time on the project. Here’s what some people had to say.

Queertawe Exhibition

Our visual arts workshops have been increasingly popular this year and with the support of our amazing facilitator Sophie we are preparing for our Queertawe Exhibition in Volcano Theatre in July. Our Opening event for this Exhibition will be on July 4th!

Youth Takeover!

On Thursday 24th of April we had our Youth Takeover event that was rescheduled from the Queertawe Fringe in December.

This event was a collaboration with input from young people from Mess Up The Mess Theatre Company, People Speak Up, YMCA Swansea Good Vibes group, Future Blood and Olchfa School! There was performances, music and Q+A from Heartstopper director Andy Newbury.
